This is an antique French rustic terracotta cheese mold, also known as a faisselle. These traditional dairy vessels feature perforated holes around the sides and bottom to allow whey to drain during the cheese-making process.
Due to the age of the item there is wear to the terracotta (see light chipping on rim of item), however still suitable for use as a storage or display item.
